Give your camera to your waiter/waitress... it can pay off

I've gone through all my photos from our Maine vacation trip.  There're some good ones in the batch I think.  (There should be... I took over 1000 in two weeks!)

But the one below is my favorite.  Yet I had nothing to do with it.  Our waitress saw me setting up the camera on an adjacent picnic table to use the self-timer to take the picture, and she asked if she could help.  I gave the camera to her in auto mode, and this is what she took!  All I did was a bit of cropping in photoshop before posting.

My favorite scenic photo from Joe's Pond, Vermont

This was taken from Jay and Caitlin's camp on the shore of Joe's Pond, last Sunday at about 6:45am.

A visit with Caitlin and Jay in Vermont

Laurie and I drove up to St. Johnsbury to see Caitlin and Jay, and to spend some time also with Jay's mom and stepdad, Barbara and Ernie. We had a wonderful time.  Saturday afternoon was spent up at Jay Peak and we had a chance to take the tramway to the top.  The breeze and cool air was refreshing after several days of 100F temperatures in the Boston area.  We spent the night at Joe's Pond and had an awesome surf 'n turf dinner with homemade blueberry pie for desert courtesy of Jay's mom.  A very nice evening was spent on the porch looking at an extended sunset.  On Sunday... a big breakfast and we were on our way back to Massachusetts.  Here a few images, in chronological order:

A few motorcycles in Maine

As a follow up to the "a few cars in Maine" post from the other day, here are a few motorcycles I ran across.  I don't know much about motorcycles, but these looked really hot.  I think the last one is the biggest Harley makes.  And it was only a week old, according to the "Harley Chick" I talked to.  Good to see both she and her husband wearing helmets in Maine, where they are not required.

A few cars in Maine (and one truck)

I'm in the process of going through about 1000 images I took while in Maine for two weeks.  It seems that a lot of them are pretty random, such as pictures of a few motorcycles, a few cars, and some blueberry pie shots!

Once I find them, I am hoping to post some of the better images from the trip.  There must be a few among the 1000!!

Anyway, in the meantime I must say I had some fun lining up the camera on these cars.  Obviously there is no particular theme here, as the only thing these cars have in common is four wheels. Oh, and two of them are yellow.

I'd love to have an afternoon spin in the old MG.  Do you recognize the third car?  That's the old VW "Thing".  As for the last car... "if you have to ask, then you can't afford it".  (It's a Lotus, but I had to zoom in on the badge on the hood to figure that out.)
