Trip Photos On Zenfolio

I have started to put more and bigger images of our Colorado trip onto my photo gallery site at Zenfolio. I have shown a few images from each of the first 7 days here on the blog; but I will be creating portfolios on Zenfolio with about 20 larger images (including a daily map) from each day.

Day 1 and 2 have so far been added to Zenfolio here:

Peak Foliage

I took this shot last Friday, on Sudbury Road near Verrill Farm, Concord. I stopped to buy a coffee and cookie and just as I parked the car the sun decided to peak out from behind the clouds for just a moment. (And of course it helped to have a camera in my briefcase.)

Colorado/Utah vacation - Day 7

Day 7 took us to Arches National Park and our first of two nights at the Best Western in Moab.

Note the people (they're very small!!) in the final image, as this gives you an idea how very large this arch is.

Colorado/Utah - Day 6 Part I

On this day, we left Mesa Verde (after an early morning drive before breakfast looking for wildlife such as the male Mule Deer seen here) for Montezuma Utah. Our plan was to see Canyonlands and Arches National Parks.

Nice camper!

Colorado/Utah vacation - Day 5

On this day, we drove from Durango to Mesa Verde, which is very near the "four corner" area (where Colorado, Utah, New Mexico and Arizona meet). We arrived there in plenty of time to take a tour of the most famous of the cliff dwellings, Cliff Palace, which is shown in the last picture. These dwelling were abandoned by the Native American some 1000 years ago. And they weren't discovered by the "white man" until the late 1800's when a couple of cowboys found them while looking for lost cattle.

Colorado/Utah vacation - day 4

Day 4 was a stay-in-Durango day... with a brief side trip to a reservoir (nearly dried up this time of year) where there had been a huge forest fire a few years back.

Here are a few pictures from the Historical District. And one from the reservoir.

Colorado/Utah vacation - day 3

Day 3 took us from Montrose CO to Durango CO, via a side trip to Telluride and stops in other old mining towns such as Ouray (named after a Ute chief) and Silverton (guess what they mined there!).

We're back from vacation... Day 1 photos

Laurie and I returned from our two week vacation in Colorado and Utah. We both have WAY too many photos. I have started going through them by creating folders on my computer for each day, so as to reduce the project to manageable pieces.

Here are five random (but in the order taken) images from Day 1 (arrival in Denver at about 1 pm to the our late afternoon arrival at the Best Western in Buena Vista, CO, generally driving in a west-southwest direction.)
