Pictures from family camp at Pine Island

I have just finished posting the pictures from our trip to Pine Island Camp two weekends ago. There are quite a few (about 100) because I wanted to make them available the friends we made while there.

Tyler and Reed: Can you guess where this picture was taken?

Pine Island Camp: people Tyler and Reed might know??

A few pictures I took while at Family Camp at Pine Island a week ago. Reed and Tyler may remember these people:

Rip Swan making the evening campfire:

Forrest Brown facing us, in kayak (was camper I think when Reed was there). I remember him from flytying class, the last of which I taught nine years ago:

Ben Swan welcoming everyone, at Thursday night's dinner:

The Teague kids; these are the step-brother and step-sister to Mr. Teague's 27 year old son. It was that son, whose name escapes me, who was a counselor (camper, too?) on the waterfront (kayak expert?). The Teagues are from Colorado, near the ski area of Crested Butte and not too far from Aspen:

That's Katie Swan on the left (Ben and Emily's daughter), after we all stopped in Belgrade Lakes during a boat trip around the lake:

Will Webb is shown here on the left, playing some sort of game at campfire. He remembers Reed:

Family camping at Pine Island

Laurie and I went up to Pine Island Camp in Maine for four days of "family camp". This takes place annually after the six week boys' camp summer season concludes. Director Ben Swan has been offering this opportunity for families for most of the last 16 years. In fact Tyler and I attended the first family camp, when he was 11.

I haven't gone through all my photos yet, but shown here is a sunrise picture taken from the dock area in the island's cove (that's the mainland in the background).

Vist to "Garden in the Woods"

Garden in the Woods is the home of the New England Wild Flower Society. This is the largest landscaped collection of wild flowers in the Northeast, and is located in Framingham. I spent about 2 hours there on Sunday. I have created a gallery of about a dozen photos, some of which are also included in the "little critters" gallery.

My fav is this one, below:

"Little Critters"

September's photo club assignment is "little critters". With that in mind I put together a little gallery of little critter photos. Two of my favorites are below, but the link to the full gallery is:

Hot Air Balloon Rally in NH

Laurie and I had a nice morning viewing the lift-off of about a dozen hot air balloons in Pittsfield, NH last weekend. It was the 28th Pittsfield New Hampshire Rotary's Hot Air Balloon Rally.

After a 90 minute drive, Laurie and I arrived Sunday before 5:00 a.m. for the lift off (scheduled for between 5:30 and 6:00 a.m.) There were perhaps 10 or 12 balloons. Interestingly, although there were perhaps 100 or 200 people there by the time we left at about 6:30 a.m., there were just a handful of people milling around in the pre-dawn darkness at 5:00 a.m.

In addition to the images shown here, I have included below a link to a gallery of about 40 images which include a couple of images of the emergency landing of the Irish Rover balloon on Route 28.
